Unlike a lot of my gaming friends, I don’t do the convention circuit. There is no Gencon or Origins for me. I’ve made it to the occasional local comic book convention but there usually isn’t gaming at those.
The event that I do attend is DC Gameday, and even then there are times where I have had to miss it in recent years. I’ve missed it twice due to family funerals in fact. The second long-ish term Gaming Group I joined after moving to DC was a group of guys who met via Gameday in fact.
The point is, I consider it a special event. It is a great place to go and try out games that I wouldn’t otherwise get the chance to play with my regular group. This time around (The Fall 2013 session) I’ve signed up to GM a game of Mutants and Masterminds.
The adventure I’m running is based on a Superhero Campaign I played in run by my friend Bob. The Campaign was set in a world that in comics would be analogous to Marvel 2099 or Batman Beyond. The adventure I’ll be running is going to be set in the late 80s/early 90s of that same world.
I still have a lot of work to do if I want to be ready in a month but I think it is doable. I have the basic plot(s) mapped out and know who the characters are going to be. All that’s left is to write up the pre-gen characters and add a few twists and turns in. (Aka a lot of work).
I really hope my player’s enjoy the ride.
