I’m not saying it is Aliens. But it is Aliens.

If you’re going to be living in a superhero world, sooner or later you’re going to run into aliens. If you’re playing teen-aged superheroes in the future then you might all be aliens. In the world of the Teen Machine, they aren’t all aliens but at least one prominent member of the team is. Here is an overview of 4 different aliens and where they fit into the world.

Powerman by Dan Houser
The asteroid belt that now sits between Mars and Jupiter was once the planet known as Minerva. The seat of a small but interstellar empire in ancient times, the Minervans managed to to tick off the Solarians (see below) and the two groups battled bitterly over their ideological differences. The planet itself was the final casualty of the centuries long war that raged between the two species.

Several Minervans were able to escape before the planet’s destruction. Many fled to Mars, Earth,or their colonies outside the solar system in stasis pods. Even so, the race was decimated and the nearby government of the Celestial Bureaucracy stepped in, granting the Minervans protected species status. Earth and Mars became protected reserves with Mars housing a hyper-train station, memorial museum, and gift shop.

Minervans themselves resemble genetically diverse humans often heavily varying skin and hair color even within the same family. The main difference is the crystal core that grows in their chests, replacing the sternum. This crystal core generates a small energy field that disrupts standard earth electronics after a period of use. The core field also serves as the basis of most Minervan tech. Many objects that appear to just be ancient artifacts turn out to be Minervan devices ranging from children’s toys to energy weapons.

Currently, the most prominent Minervan currently on Earth is ‘Powerman’ from Team Alpha. Not every person who escaped from Minerva is good and not all of them awoke at the same time. ‘Hardball’ has been awake for centuries building up a financial empire. He and Powerman have clashed multiple times over the years since Powerman awoke from stasis.

God of the Solarians
God of the Solarians
Every race at one time or another has develops a legend of a promised land. For the Solarians, that land is the Sol system from which they take their name. Unfortunately for them, at the time that they found it the system was already being ruled by Minervans. Being theirs by divine right, a holy war was the only viable reaction. It was a holy war that lasted a century and only ended when the Solarians blew up the planet Minerva.

By the Solarian reckoning, this would have been an acceptable loss were it not for the unexpected backlash that took out all of the ships surrounding the planet. The destruction of their fighting fleet left what used to be the Solarian empire so weakened that they had no choice but to accept the judgement of the Celestial Bureaucracy. Since then, attempts to claim their promised land through legal and not-so-legal (read: terrorist) means have been repeatedly rebuffed by the heroes of Earth.

Solarians themselves are serpent-like creatures that balance themselves upright on on a single coiled tail. They have two arms each ending in clawed hands as well as a lizard-like face. The serpents hold a bias towards chemical weaponry. Their primary means of attack are a signature weapon that allow them to blast a venom synthesized from their own biology at range or inject it directly into their opponent via an attached blade.

Solarian ships are built around the baseline of a flying saucer, silver with a domed roof and a ramp that drops from the bottom. Due to their serpentine biology there are no stairs on the ramp, just a flat angled surface. They continue the flying disk motif planet-side as well, making use of one or two-person hover-platforms to get around.
