I’m used to thinking of fate, destiny, and luck as all roughly equivalent concepts. Recently I watched a video that pointed out historically that hasn’t always been the case. This is why you “meet your fate” but you “fullfill your destiny”.
Last night I was asked if I had any New Year’s resolutions. My answer was that I was going to focus more on achieving my goals. My wife almost spit out her drink at that. I don’t blame her. It was a very nonspecific answer. The thing is that my goals haven’t really changed but I often allow myself to become distracted from persuing them.
This year I want to focus on my destiny and not let the winds of fate blow me around in different directions. I’ve already taken some steps towards ordering my life to avoid distractions. But I’m going to need to focus also on living out that order because in the past organization itself has become a distraction for me.
